Mission

The League of Women Voters of Yolo County (LWVYC) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit, grassroots organization supporting representative democracy. We encourage informed and active participation in voting. We work toward a greater public understanding of major governance issues. We influence policy through education and advocacy.

LWVYC places no barriers to membership or program participation on the basis of individual identity or political party affiliation. We welcome the perspectives of all in our community and believe that, together, we create a better republic.

Our Vision

LWVYC envisions a democracy in which every eligible voter has the desire, right, knowledge, and confidence to exercise their voting rights. Beyond our “Women Voter” history, we reach out to all in our community and encourage all to join in our work. We pursue a democracy where all can see their needs represented and respected, without regard to individual identity, party preference, or political ideology.

Our Goal

The League is a nonpartisan organization, supporting and opposing issues, not candidates or political parties.

We work to inspire informed voter participation and support good governance by:

  • Encouraging voter registration, ballot education, and issue awareness,
  • Presenting forums on public policy issues and ballot measures,
  • Increasing candidate visibility through public, nonpartisan candidate forums,
  • Adopting positions on governance issues that benefit our local community,
  • Advocating for League positions that benefit our community, our state, and our country.
