How donations benefit the chapter
Your donations help us with: speaker fees, development of our website, student stipends, accounts for social media and payments for services such as Zoom and PayPal.
We have two different funds you can support.
General Fund
NOT Tax Deductible
This fund is recognized as a 501(c)(4) and is not tax-deductible.
All monies in this account are used solely by LWVYC for our work to increase understanding of major public policy issues through education advocacy.
Donations to this fund support our organization operations.

- Tabling booths and materials for public events
- Publications and Informational Materials

- Our Website

NOTE: Donations to our General Fund are crucial for our operations and greatly appreciated and well managed, but they are not tax deductible.
By IRS requirements, General Fund donations must be made separately from donations to our Education Fund.

Education Fund
Tax Deductible
This fund is recognized as a 501(c)(3) and is tax-deductible (Tax ID Number: 53-0239013) to the extent permitted by law.
Our LWVYC Education Fund is used to conduct voter service and citizen education activities.
Donations to this fund are used to support the following activities.
- Nonpartisan voter information:
- Election Forums – Candidate Forums and Ballot Measure Pro/Cons
- Voter Guides – both online and print
- Your Elected Officials contact lists
- Building citizen participation in the democratic process:
- Get Out The Vote (GOTV) activities
- Voter registration events
- Civics Education Initiatives
- Youth voting outreach
- Specific Community Education Projects:
- Events and publications on specific community issues, free of advocacy for any particular bill or ballot measure, that enable people to seek positive solutions to public policy issues through information and conflict management
- Contributions to the Education Funds of the National (LWVEF) or California Leagues (LWVCEF)
- Local Observer Corps at public meetings
NOTE: Donations to our Education Fund are received and managed by The League of Women Voters of California Education Fund (LWVCEF), a 501(c)3 corporation, and are fully tax deductible as allowed by law.
