For over a 100 years the League of Women Voters has challenged voter suppression and upheld representative democracy. The League does not support or oppose any political party or any candidate. It does, however, take action on selected, studied government issues in the public interest and supports access and belonging for all people in principles and practices.

Upcoming Events

Since 2006, the League of Women Voters of Woodland has presented the annual Democracy Works award to an individual and/or organization working to empower voters and defend democracy. The League seeks nominees from throughout Yolo County whose actions support our citizens and our democratic processes.

These actions may include encouraging equal representation, promoting free and fair elections, expanding voter education and rights, advocating legislation that promotes democracy and our communities, or taking grassroots political action.

The deadline for submittals is September 1, 2025. The Awards Ceremony will be sometime in October.
